Thought for Today: If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. –  Mahatma Gandhi

On This Day in History: 1884 The Washington Monument was completed.

1884, in Washington, D.C., workers place a nine-inch aluminum pyramid atop a tower of white marble, completing the construction of an impressive monument to the city’s namesake and the nation’s first president, George Washington.

Freaky Friday Musical: Auditions for this year’s musical are next week, Monday, December 10th, and Tuesday, December 11th. Be sure to pick up an audition from the front office. See Mrs. Simon-Carlson if you have any question.

PARENT NEWS:

Book and Coat Drive: The Counseling Office is collecting new or gently used books and coats to benefit members of the Davis community. Donations can be dropped off to the Counseling Office now through Friday, December 7th.

Tree Harper: Thank you to all who pledged to buy trees during Tree Harper’s Fund Razor III. Tree Harper received $320 in pledges! Send all donations to Harper’s front office – checks made out to Tree Harper and cash placed in a labeled envelope. With this amount, Tree Harper will be able to buy 3 or 4 trees! With an overwhelming victory, the winning beard style is… drum roll please… the Question Mark Beard! Mr. McKim will wear it during all school hours on Tuesday 12/4/18. Pictures will be taken for the yearbook. While it is too late to affect the beard contest results, Tree Harper welcomes any donations at any time. Once again, Tree Harper thanks you!

The 2018 Adopt A Family Program-Update

Thank you so much to the many of you who have offered to “adopt” a Harper family or child during this holiday season.   At this point the only thing left that we could still use to help these efforts would be gift cards to local grocery stores or Target.  Please bring them to the office, labeled “Adopt A Family”, with your names on them,  so we know who to thank.  Each card will go to our identified students in need.  All donations need to be in the office between Monday, the 17th and Wednesday, December 19th.

Sincerely, Kerin Kelleher and Liza Lopez
