4 beard choices
Embarrass science teacher Mr. McKim and help buy trees for Harper!
Choose between four embarrassing beard styles (see graphic above) that he will have to wear to school!
The top-vote-getting style will be showcased by Mr. McKim starting on December 15!
See below the four beard styles chosen by students.
For 18 years Harper JHS's Science Teacher Ken McKim has been enlisting Harper student and community members to improve our campus via ASB club Tree Harper & community organization Friends of Frances. He grows out his beard out during "No-Shave November," then he tracks donations that he receives in the first two weeks of December to pay for trees, tools, and snacks for the wonderful student volunteers participating in these organizations. After the deadline of midnight Saturday Dec 13, he shaves and colors his beard in one of four embarrassing ways that Tree Harper students came up with. The style he shaves is the top vote getter. $1 per vote (whether the donor's choice wins or not!). This is an environmentally sustainable fundraiser: no T-shirts, no chocolate bars or trinkets that cost our planet due to their packaging, their contribution to landfills, their fossil-fuel transportation needs, etc.

Since Tree Harper began 18 years ago, 251 trees have been planted at Harper!
That is almost 75% of all trees on our campus!

Tree Harper needs about $1,500 to reach the goal of planting ten trees this year!
If under $1,000 is raised, the beard will be worn to school for 1 day starting Monday December 15.
If $1,000 - $1,870 is raised, the beard has to be worn for 2 school days!
If more than $1,870 is raised (our record - set last year!), the beard is worn for 3 days!
Typical donation is $10. Record donation was after the contest deadline last year: $1,000!
